    Copier Delivery

Hello - I am new to the Forum and really new to selling Copiers (5 years), although I have been in the document tech industry for 27 years.

So how many guys doesit take to deliver a copier? We have a 16 ft truck with liftgate. We have docks here and many of our clients have grade level docks as well.
My guys tell me to deliver a copier with the liftgate, you need two men. Sounds suspicious to me?
We deliver BizHub Copiers on a onesy-twosy basis, we are a very small dealer.

How many guys doesit take to deliver a copier?
    Thank you in Advance

Easy try delivering 1 yourself then you will know if it takes 2 people
a lot depends on the location ease of access and size of machine being delivered

if and when we are able to rent a lift deck truck, we take minimum of 2. prefer 3. if we use our van (gurney and machine broken down), black and white machines - 2 man, color 4 man operation.

we are small company as well, 3 techs. our purchaser and sometimes 80 something owner assists in moves.

it all boils down to how much workman's comp and insurance on machines do you want to risk a machine falling off lift or injuring a tech

If you have a delivery truck with a liftgate and do not have to deal with any stairs to get the copier to its final destination plus you are skilled at connecting the copier to the LAN including installing print drivers and configuring scan to email, sure you can deliver the copier with one man. I do it all of the time.

It helps if you do a site visit before delivery to get a feel for the install.

Bizhubs 25-45 cpm A3 size copiers are a lot smaller and lighter than they use to be.

A4 Bizhubs are a one man job.

A copier business with three service techs is not small in my territory.

Depending on the scope of the install, it might take 2-8 hours to complete.

    Re: Copier Delivery

Most of our deliveries are done by (1) guy. Perhaps 1% require a tech to lighten the chassis, or if the stair climber cannot navigate certain stairs, or if a door frame has to be pried out. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

99% of the time we send 2 guys on installs for full size machines. We do the driver install and scan set up, so one guy does a demo and one does the networking.

ditto.....two for physical deliver, then one to take care of network malarkey ( there's a word we don't hear enough), and one guy to do the customer happy dance.

    Re: Copier Delivery

I'm solo in my department and I don't have any fancy thingamajigs to lift, carry or otherwise make moving a full sized copier easier so I end up having to ask one of the furniture folks to help me. So, my vote is two folks at least. The Sharps I sell are far too expensive for me to want to try anything hinky with.
