    Re favourite machine :
Its a bit like having a group of old girl friends ask which one is your favourite?
Aahh yeah.... Only a brave man would answer that.
Whats popular with one "model" is not so popular with the next.

The "model" I like is the one that doesn't breakdown, fall to pieces, likes the sweaty heat and humidity, can handle a good bang, stays clean and comes back for more...

There would be little need then for techs - except to teach the dumba$$ customers how to use the machine. 😉

Ah gonna have to give up on my ancient and finally beyond repair copier at my house. I actually have a Canon NP 1020 that finally gave up the ghost when the fuser developed some picker finger scratches. Oh well I've been using it sparingly for almost twelve years since a customer asked me to throw it out when they closed up shop and retired. One of my favorite and one of the better analog desktops I worked on and also one of the easiest too.

I like the legacy panels, cannot say I'm a fan of the G1 and G2 Android panels.
They app load times are far from instant and the general screen brightness and the anti-glare coating is poor.
I've had lots of customers comment about these things.

Hopefully Ricoh will address these issues on the G3 panels.

We get paid salary plus a monthly commission based on a series of benchmarks defined within the national BEI reporting program in which our company participates. Our technicians' commission can increase with higher efficiency stats such as first call effectiveness, copies between calls, parts usage and calls per day, among other benchmarks. So, you see, a poorly performing machine not only makes for a dissatisfied customer but will actually take money out of the tech's pocket by NOT earning money toward that commission AND preventing him from going to another call that might make him additional cash in the future. As long they keep generating copies/prints without needing service we make money.

Sounds like a workable solution for all techs, but what if one guy gets all the out-of-town crappy slow jobs and the bosses greasy slimy boot polisher(s) get all the good/easy in-town jobs ?

One company I worked for found out that the out-of-town guy was putting in twice three times the effort as the in-town techs for less pay.
The out-of-town guy left the company an all hell broke loose. The in-town guys started quitting from the company after their wonderful in-town gravy train ride came to an end.

The out-of-town guy found out years later from the actual boss how much of a solid foundation pillar he was to their thriving business.
Its a shame how truth and honesty gets lost between the sheets of all the paper empire(s).

All statistics look good on paper. There is an engineering saying in Oz : "Theoretically it works, practically it don't..."
