Question What are your favourite MFD manufacturers (and why)?

Thought I would put the cat among the pigeons and start a new 'which brand you think is best' type of discussion purely based from a service technicians point of view.

The scope and accuracy of such polls is limited as not many of us would have worked cross all the brands listed.
But it's can be a bit of fun to watch other techs slug it out in such debates for moral supremacy.

The one that I'm servicing today. I know it sounds like a cop out, but I don't choose the models and manufacturers of the machines that I work on. In fact, the machines that run the worst generate the most service calls, ensuring my steady employment. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

A rather cryptic 'on the fence' response....... don't wanna say ah.

Steady employment is nice, but so is having machines that just work well and stay fixed.

You may of noticed I've not started the poll rolling either lol.

I find that techs with very strong negative or positive opinions can let it affect how they treat a machine they are there to work on.

You can try to treat all machines equally, the ones you hate and the ones you like.
Or you like all the machines equally, and then treat them all the same. I find it easier to do the latter. =^..^=

Quite agree on the Colorcube. Just too many weird calls when I was working on them. Weirdest call though not actually to repair the color cube but the copier the customer was using to copy the printouts from the Xerox. Nice analog Mita copier they would print to the Xerox and then put the printout on the copier and then run off 50 to 200 copies. Now if you don't remember the older analog copiers would scan whatever is on the glass as many times as you entered. And they actually had halogen lamps that would heat the glass on copy runs of over 25 to 30 prints. And every so often the wax ink on the Xerox prints would melt onto the now warmed glass, leaving little dots of ink on the glass Those would then show up on any copies that were made after the wax printout was removed from the glass. And I would get the call for dirty copies. Finally did figure out it was the wax ink because the customer actually ran off 200 copies of a picture and turned to take care of another job. Leaving the print on the glass long enough for the melted wax to cool and the paper stick to the glass

I like Sharp's to (I didn't at first, but they grew on me the more I worked on them).
We have bunch of MX-3640's, MX-5112's and MX-4070's in field and they run pretty well to be honest.

    But my favourite is Canon.

I really like the tank like build quality, a lot of the parts will go way over yield without issue, solid software platform and nice and easy to work on for the most part.

Be advised that I only worked extensively with Ricoh and Konica Minolta. Worked briefly with other brands, and didn't enjoy it, but I'll admit that could be due to the frustration of not being trained on them...
