    Change in profession

Been a while but I'm back. Now a Xerox IT analyst instead of a sharp technician. I am finding that in some ways I dig Xerox a LOT more than sharp but in a few ways I'm still a fish out of water when it comes to some Xerox issues. Feels a bit like I've transitioned from windows to mac, if it isn't there, good luck on some things. But either way glad to be back and with any luck after two months of xerox training I hope to be able to help those that have not had that chance.

Having heard the profanities that come out of my IT dept when dealing with Xerox issues, best of luck to you.

I believe "I.T. Profanities" are not Brand-Specific....They've ALL got their little "What were the designers THINKING" quirks!!

Having just put firmware in a 7830 for the first time, those were my thoughts.

    You'll do fine, I'm sure.

I think that you'll find most copier techs can't seem to escape the profession. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Can't see myself doing anything else. Ride in somebody else's truck, their gas and maintenance, people happy to see you show up, get challenged with new problems. I think of what a great job this is every time I pass people doing road work.

True that. I used to be oilfield for five years. This work is much safer though not as well paying, for now. My only real complaint at the moment is using my vehicle for everything. But, there are worse things I suppose.

If you get reimbursed it will cover your car payments, gas, maintenance plus a little extra. Think of it as a free car. Although you must be disciplined, can't take the gas check as "income"
