    Hurricane Florence

Good Luck to all of you in the South East USA, sounds like it will be one for the books. Cannot imagine what some of you must be going through right now and of course after. Hopefully everyone stays safe!

I drove to Jacksonville, on the coast, to do 2 service calls. Hospital there is preparing for flood. Traffic on I-40 was about 5 to 15 mph coming home. I have firewood to boil water for coffee, so I am ready.

My worry is the giant pine tree 6 feet behind my bedroom window. If she goes, takes out the master bedroom, kitchen and part of garage.

It appears that it is going straight in instead of skimming the coast like many hurricanes do. It is expected to make landfall as a Category 4, very mush similar as Hurricane Hugo on September 22, 1989.

If you haven't evacuated, or relocated - don't sleep in that master bedroom.

Can't evac with 4 dogs and 7 cats. Ride it out and hope for the best. Gas stations are running out. I got the last propane bottle at the one I stopped at. Drove 10 miles to find gas.

Good luck!! Hope you are in land or on higher ground, sounds like the surge and the torrential rain will create havoc. Hurricane Hazel flooded out some areas north of Toronto by the Humber River after it became a TD. Walls of mud leveled many houses in that neighborhood. A Aunt and Uncle lived through it, others didn't. Of course that was over 50 yrs ago, more warning now, but more population density now as well, and of course the infrastructure for the increase in population. Good Luck to all of you!
