Sad to report that my trusty 9 year old Toshiba laptop died a few minutes ago. I knew she wouldn't live forever, but it's still hard when it happens. She used to go to work with me, but became housebound a few years ago and lived on my desk. Even with the hinges broke and the keyboard warped, she was fast and never caught a virus. She will be missed.

Forget the Batteries!!! Just use the power supply & plug it into a UPS. You said it takes 20 minutes to boot up...just make a bootable Linux Thumb Drive! Probably would be faster anyway! Recommended software below & super easy to use!

I know how you feel. I had to put down toshy 1.5years ago... but I was able to buy a newer model ( no not a blonde ;-) ) I just wish I coulda afforded a bigger screen model.

As a tech, I really appreciate things that are built solid and last. I am really hard on the things I own and need them to be quality built. Thats why I keep a Laserjet 4+, in like new condition, at my desk.

When the IT twossers here made me upgrade my beloved Toshie 'cos it ran XP I took it home and now it lives in comfortable retirement beside my lounge chair where I hope to join it in a year or so.
Nothing wrong with XP, I can fathom how it works!!
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.
Sorry for your loss. Just hang in there and dont do something you will regret later
