Watch out for KM bizhub 4050 fuser replacement(or it's Lexmark equivalent). Basically you've got to strip the machine from top to the bottom.

What Model Hans? So far the ones Ive had to replace are pretty straight forward, and Ive dealt with Kyocera since '06, mostly copiers back when KM were two different companies, Kyocera and Mita and dealt with the Falcon Series as well as Alphard, those are pretty quick, printers usually had quick release tabs or thumbscrews
It does look like the Lexmark MX/MS 310, if it is anyrhing like them, well ues that is another stupid design
HP 1320/P2015 engine which also has an All in One version M2727 also have to pretty much dismantle the whole machine, but then again, those are older models, as to the C540 is a faily recent and the fact that you have to deal with all those steps to remove it its quite annoying.
I did this fuser on the MFP version.
Two thing that they didn't mention in the video is a wire rope that runs over the left side of the fuser. If at all possible do not disturb the wire rope, since I spent quite a bit of time getting the wire rope back installed correctly. Additionally there is a transfer roller shift mechanism on the left inner frame that wasn't installed quite right. It was making a pretty horrific noise during initialization. I think the previous tech helped me with that.
The reason for replacing the fuser was that the exit flag (as seen in the video when removing the exit sensor ... ) mine was entirely missing.

3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re. Tech friendly modular designs.
What the parent factories fail to realize is, the quicker and easier the Tech gets into the machine for repairs or servicing, the faster the machine is back up making money. A Tech friendly modular design machine will generally get recommendations passed onto their own Sales department. A machine that is repeatedly laying in pieces all over the customers floor will get bad word-of-mouth(WOM) reviews from the customer for any further sales. The customer may even change to another totally different manufacturer because of careless modular engineered designs.
Re. Tech short cuts.
I've even gone as far as chopping plastic tabs off side covers, left screws out of covers, if its a problematic machines that requires repeat service attention. Those few short cuts can add a 1/2 hour to the end of the day.

I think I have changed a fair few Lexmark fusers and the c540 looks like the same design as the cx510/cx517 clam shell design. If youve ever had to change the Fuser on the Oki MB451 then you would still be traumatised a day later after doing your first one. Stupid designs for machines that cost peanuts. Its like they design the machine and everything else and then remember the Fuser when they try and test it!!!! So they just hash a redesign.
Can't remember the Canon Image Runner model, but it was less then 20 prints a minute. This one was NOT under contract and at least 8 yrs old when I was tasked with replacing the fuser. The scanner had to be removed, all those crumpled ribbon cables as well. I was just waiting for a error code bingo game to break out when I powered this dusty relic up after putting it back together but it worked! I still have no idea why the customer ok'd the job after being quoted the cost of the part and 2 hrs labour.
Seriously, how can a cheap MFD be designed with so much part removal for a consumable part?
