Who would like to see members banned that give out Service Manager Modes and Total Counter Resets on open forum?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Since companies get paid by meter counts, it is unprofessional to let customers have access to information that could change the meters. It is sometimes easy to forget when we are talking to other techs that end users can read what we post. Brings back that whole discussion about sorting out the end users from the techs. I would support making it a rule that some information should not be posted, and list exactly what those items are.

And if you doubt me, how many first time posters ask for manuals?
The end result is the same. Ignorance is no excuse.
If you park in front of a fire hydrant and don't know about the rule, you still get the ticket.
Members that cannot figure out that they shouldn't be giving out this information, will be able to figure out that they are no longer a member.
This isn't Smarka, and it shouldn't be. We're professionals.

I think that as long as this is an open forum where any nitwit with a pc can access this info(thank you so much google), people need to use caution. Again, we're back to the end-user/technician issue. Perhaps there is some way to filter this information if we can't stop it.

There are folks who will do anything and not care what any of us think about it.
However we aren't here for the purposes of allowing these things just because they want to get by so I voted to ban.
Sides you don't know who that is. Are they wanting that info to go to a competitors location and screw an account for somebody. That ain't right.

If you ban people for giving out meter resets then where do you stop? Ban people for showing how to get into service mode?
Lecture them, delete their post and maybe suspend their account. If they do it again ban them.
If you are hitting your head up against a wall it always feels better when you stop.
Maybe there should be an entrance exam of sorts, either pertaining to "your brand" in particular or equipment in general. Wouldn't be hard to do just 5 or so questions would weed out those who belong and not. Even if this only kept you from viewing certain forums.
