redneck
"cracker," 1893; attested 1830 in more specialized sense ("This may be ascribed to the Red Necks, a name bestowed upon the Presbyterians in Fayetteville," from Ann Royall, "Southern Tour I," p.148). According to various theories, red perhaps from anger, or from pellagra, but most likely from mule farmers' outdoors labor in the sun, wearing a shirt and straw hat, with the neck exposed.

redneck
A slang term, usually for a rural white southerner who is politically conservative, racist, and a religious fundamentalist (see fundamentalism). This term is generally considered offensive. It originated in reference to agricultural workers, alluding to how the back of a person's neck will be burned by the sun if he works long hours in the fields.

Interesting that you claim not to be a redneck, use "college boy" as a disparaging remark (as if education is harmful and negative) and then post several cut and pastes about how redneck means "bigoted", I believe your dixie is showing there.

CHARLIE DANIELS FOR PRESIDENT
I ain't nothin' but a simple man
They call me a redneck I reckon that I am
But there's things going on
That make me mad down to the core.
I have to work like a dog to make ends meet
There's crooked politicians and crime in the street
And I'm madder'n hell and I ain't gonna take it no more.
We tell our kids to just say no
Then some panty waist judge lets a drug dealer go
Slaps him on the wrist and then he turns him back out on the town.
Now if I had my way with people sellin' dope
I'd take a big tall tree and a short piece of rope
I'd hang 'em up high and let 'em swing 'til the sun goes down
Well, you know what's wrong with the world today
People done gone and put their Bible's away
They're living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land
The good book says it so I know it's the truth
An eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth
You better watch where you go and remember where you been
That's the way I see it I'm a Simple Man.
Now I'm the kinda man that'd not harm a mouse
But if I catch somebody breakin in my house
I've got twelve guage shotgun waiting on the other side
So don't go pushing me against my will
I don't want to have to fight you but I dern sure will
So if you don't want trouble then you'd better just pass me on by
As far as I'm concerned there ain't no excuse
For the raping and the killing and the child abuse
And I've got a way to put an end to all that mess
Just take them rascals out in the swamp
Put 'em on their knees and tie 'em to a stump
Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest
You know what's wrong with the world today
People done gone and put their Bible's away
They're living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land
The Good Book says it so I know it's the truth
An eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth
You better watch where you go and remember where you been
That's the way I see it I'm a Simple Man

Wow, I really started a shit-storm with this one.
Missed it by that much.
i'm siding with JBtech on this one. i don't want to hear (or read) anyones "narrow-minded sermons" either. don't try to tell me how i should act or what i should do. as far as i'm concerned, that "holier than thou" attitude does not belong on this board. these kind of views should be kept personal or in the proper forum. and CMB, you must have a lot of time on your hands, judging by your prior posts. get a life.

I too, am sorry that we all can't just live and let live .

When I come to FL to visit my mother ...... I will try to stop by your shop CMB and have a cup o' joe and shake your hand and tell you that I believe that it is your right as a Good American Citizen to express your opinion .

no dusterman not you
My previous posts were to CMB,(not you dusterman) and frankly if he posts again I'm happy to let him have the last word.
For the record I have nothing against "rednecks" I think of them as honest hardworking people. on the other hand I find born again boneheads (not necessarily christians but any fanatics) insufferable.
I find that I have more important and more pleasurable pursuits in my life than to argue with a stubborn old fool.
Have a nice life CMB
my point is if a redneck is the hard working blue collar man-the bread and butter of the country- then why make jokes about us? well, i guess if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
about the preaching, thats what us christians are taught to do.
