Why can't we write the error code messages??

A customer called the shop with a paper tray code the other day. So I call the customer and told him it meant something was wrong with the lift on the paper tray. He got a bit of an attitude and said "Why don't it say that then"? I replied that then I would get dumbass calls saying there was something wrong with the paper tray. It occurred. to me at that point that is why techs do not get to program the messages. Some would come out as "Hey Stupid, you left part of the jam in the machine" or "Please go find someone smarter than you to operate this machine"
What code would you come up with?

I'd put this one on every user-related error

    ' "But the salesman said . . ." The salesman's an asshole!'

'You will always find some Eskimo ready to instruct the Congolese on how to cope with heat waves.'

I think it was some of the Minoltas that just said "Please wait for a while." Always cracked me up.

The TASKalfa's have a voice function and a pop-up printer monitor (if you want it). You can also custom program the messages. In class we programmed all kinds of fun messages. My personal favorite was "Hey dumbass, load the paper on the other side of the tray." The messaged played back on the users PC.

It gets pretty annoying when the voice module is on all the time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hey, the Press C8000 has a voice message option too...programmable in several languages too...not sure if it can do custom messages tho....

And ya, I could see that getting old in a hurry....

Nice gimmick...but does it walk the dog?

The HP laserjet 8000 the techs print to, says it is "low on BBQ sauce". It made me look twice.
