As for the customer I am many things!
A Tech, an electrician, a plumber, a mechanic and a Therapist.
For my Boss I am a jack of all trades
For my boss I am a jackass of all trades.
I can still hear him when he was berating all techs
and and stating that he could train a monkey faster.......................
I have been thinking i am copier tech until yesterday when i witnessed a simplex machine doing double sided without the option of a duplexer
Tell me how that was - I'm smelling a cash cow somehow!

I'm just an ex-tech lurking around and spreading disinformation!
I fix end user, after all isn't that most of the problem!
I had a salesperson one time that thought he was good at fixing copiers and printers. So I gave him is own set of tools. I gave him a screwdriver set. It was just the handles only---no blades. I sawed them off. I told him we gave these out to our most exceptional salespersons. He got pissed, but managed to get the point.
Hey atwageman. Do we work forthe same company? But mine's, the salesman think and tell you how to do your job, but can't do their's or won't do anything if problem get hard and say it's not their job.
We must work for the same company. It also sounds like our salesman does too. I remember about a year and a half ago, He asked how much I would charge to do a one time PM on a mimeograph machine for a customer. I was like dear God man, its 2007, not 1807. lol. Can you not do your job and at least sell them a used digital copier? Customer had a sentimental attachment to the old beast.
What's surprising if you look hard enough you can still get ink and whatnot for those old machines.
