I feel your pain; I've been a tech since joining the USAF in 1966. There are days when I feel I'm at the 'top of the world', and other days, I'm in the toilet (unfortunately, that's becoming more frequent).

Whenever I am asked my occupation I say "copier repair".

Never could stomach the phoney glamor of "technician" like a secretary is an "administrative assistant"

I am an end user who have ended up being a trained on the job tech. I like the idea of using the machine as my service manual. These things are not as blank faced as they are often said to be.

    Re: Are you a technician?

I'm an amateur tech, going on 2 years on September 11. I don't handle stress too well, so I get paid to pull my hair out.

I have a sort of opposite reaction. When I say that I'm a photocopier tech, I get a little sad inside. But I try to tell myself someone has to do it, and where would we be without people printing stuff on paper? It sort of helps.
