    Angry Health Insurance

For the oldtimers: Remember the days when we were young techs and health insurance was such a minimal deduction that you didn't feel it and your copays was $10 and prescriptions were paid? Now I'm paying $239 every two weeks for me and my kids (no spouse), my copay is $30 for regular doctor and $60 for specialist (like my f'ing cardiologist) and prescriptions are $45. It skyrocketed after Obamacare passed. Was paying $165 every 2 weeks, copay was $15/$30 and prescriptions were $20 before that lovely law was passed. We had to switch providers because ours said "Hasta soyanara!" I thought that POS legislation was supposed to lower our rates! Yes, that's sarcasm you smell.

Don't even get me started on all the waivers that have been issued...

Notice how many are unions. Biggest smelly sack of crap, but who asked me?

My health insurance skyrocketed during the last administration. So, whatever. You may want to inquire how much of your payment your employer is covering. Wouldn't be surprising to see owners using legislation as a cover to hide that they lowered the percentage they pay. Also, find out if the owner is getting a sweetheart deal for himself by funneling all his employees into a plan that nets someone at the HMO a bigger bonus.

Ever heard the term 'economics of scale'? Unions have a larger membership than one little, local dealership, so they can bargain for better rates. More people means a larger pool to cover the cost of claims. Nothing exactly new or earth shaking here.

Again, check the archives of FactCheck.org about "obamacare", it shows why and how health care costs have gone up.

Being the GM, I was involved in choosing the new health plan, so I know for a fact that there are no owner shennanigans going on. Maybe that's the way your company operates, but we've been in business for 35 years and until this last change, employees only had to pay for spouses and kids - employees were paid for by the company. Even with the huge increases, the company is still paying for the majority of the employees premium, but I'm still paying $70/pay period.

And don't patronize me - I understand "economics of scale". But answer this: If you give all these huge unions waivers, doesn't it stand to reason the rest of us will be funding everyone's unconstitutional federally mandated healthcare? Who else will be bearing the cost? To explain in simple terms: by giving them waivers, you will have far less people paying into the pool, thus making small companies, their employees and individuals pay for EVERYONE else?

Oh, I forgot, we'll just raise the debt limit & borrow more money from the Chinese or just print more Monopoly money to pay for it. So silly of me...

Was just pointing out the site that you so heavily tout supports both sides of the story. And I agree, there are idiots on both sides as well as good people on both sides. Been on this planet for half a century, was raised by democrats and saw the far left hijack the Democratic party.
As far as being a myopic dittohead, I am very capable of reading, listening, evaluating and coming to my own conclusion of right and wrong.
Why do you and others always have to resort to name-calling? Is it because you aren't able to enter into an intelligent debate? You refer to Factcheck, but you rarely quote anything specific or anything else. Who's myopic?

I too can evaluate what I read, and I agree with you that I'm not able or won't enter into an intelligent debate, but it's not because I'm myopic.
Maybe it's because I'm tired of all the rants and rage from both sides that seem to repeat the same message with the hopes that the other will be convinced.
I grew up in a military Republican home and saw the far right and the religious right take over that party recently; and I've seen the far left do the same to the Democrats. I can see both sides of the argument, so I'm not myopic, I just don't like debates.
PS, sorry, I didn't know "dittohead" would be name-calling, I thought it was more of a description of someone blindly following, like a leftist lemming.
