I will keep asking.....What should the tax rate be for all? How can people talk taxes without giving figures and tax brackets???

I think we should have a fair tax, with a rate set for all period and alieve oursevles of the IRS.

None of my original article had anything to do with taxes. That's just the diversion.

From Fix the copier >>>>>>>>They firmly believe that cutting programs for the poor is the way to pay for the war, after all if you are a right wing Christian, all you need to do is ask yourself "What would Jesus do?". And we all know that the bible says to make the rich even wealthier, screw the poor, lets make war. That is the way Jesus would want it.

Somehow, I missed reading that in the Bible : It may be there , it may not , I do not know . But " What would Jesus do? " Perhaps ' GIVE TO THE NEEDY......NOT THE GREEDY ' .

' welfare...when used correctly is a fairly good thing . " HELP the needy ......not the greedy "

TAXES ............. Give ma a FLAT TAX 10 % Straight Across The Board >> YEAH I KNOW this will cause unemployment, due to the fact that we will not need all the IRS agents . OH YEAH >> or all the print shops that print the 1040's . The USPS , don't need a stamp for those who do not file electronically, OOPS , forgot about Jackson Hewitt , and all the others that do tax forms for individuals. WELL NEVERMIND !! Even though a flat tax would pay off in the long run, we cannot do it 'cause of all the problems it would create .

Maybe instead we can get Congress to pay themselves a NORMAL wage , use regular insurance ( like the rest of us ) pay into Social Security ( not get their current salary for the rest of their life ) NAH , that probably wouldn't work either .

    OH WELL

Guess we just have to keep enduring our current mess .

problem is the "needy" turn into the "greedy" and abuse the system.

Go with the flat tax and put the out of work IRS agents in charge of the welfare system!!!!

Thats what I knew I would hear, A 10% flat tax would reduce the tax for the rich from 34% to 10%, a whopping 24% reduction in taxes. We as a country would be bankrupt in a week.

I'll stir the pot a bit. I've been a proponent of the Fair Tax for years. Here's a comparison of the current tax policy, the Flat Tax and the Fair Tax. You are taxed on what you spend, not what you earn. No loopholes, no special provisions, just taxed on what is consumed. Take the time to read it and then debate if you can.

Like the idea of a consumption based tax; taxed once at the time of purchase, all purchases (aside from medicine) are taxable. It'd encourage saving while minimizing the tax nightmare we all endure.
