Found an interesting article regarding "Gun Control" today...

The following link is a letter that was written by members of the SOF community on their concerns for America and the Second Amendment. This letter was signed by over 1100 Active and Retired members of the SOF community.

Well worth a read, no matter what side of the "barrel" you are on.

    Re: Gun Control

Mr Bill, the CBC (Canada's national broadcast corporation) reported data from Statistics Canada in 2011 that the total number of homicides across the country as a result of firearms was 170 for the year, a decline of 6% to the lowest rate in almost 50 years.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/...-statscan.html

Although your 27% figure sounds ominous, the USA with roughly 10 times the population of Canada, has approx 65 times the homicide rate due to firearms (11,000/170).

    Re: Gun Control

All I saw was that murder rates went up 7 %. 27 % of the murders were from guns and 35% were from blades. Easy. Not messing with stats at all. Didn't give totals of how many. Just %.

    Re: Gun Control

lets put the stats aside for the moment and think about all the murders committed with firearms in both countries.
How many of those firearms were stolen from a law abiding citizen ?
How many of them were smuggled in to the country and sold directly to the different gang factions ?
If you think that the majority of murders are committed with legally obtained firearms then you are living in a fantasy land.

Things that come from our national TV station, CBC, are hard to believe at the best of times.
They reported statistics about firearms incidents that they knew were grossly exaggerated.
They, along with the RCMP, perpetuated these statistics over and over again to scare the population in to submission.
It almost worked for them until an other station started to report the correct information.

Educated, responsible firearms ownership is the first step towards acceptance from the uneducated sheep of both nations.

Just because someone doesn't want, or need a gun, does not make them sheep.
You can quote all the stats you want, but, you can't deny that there are a lot more gun murders in the US than there are in Canada, or most other countries in the world, based on population. More guns = more gun murders.

    Re: Gun Control

its not a case of some one not wanting or needing a firearm.
the sheep reference is to those that blindly follow what is said on TV, or spelled out in Wikipedia.
lack of education of the general public is at issue here, not whether some one wants to own firearms or not.
an educated population is an informed population, something politicians hate because they ask questions and seek the truth.

    Re: Gun Control

Come on Darren, Look at the Swiss. Every household has a so called Assult weapon. They have very little crime. Our city of Chicago has just about a total ban on guns and they just finish the Month of January with a terrible number of murders. It makes me sick of all the gang crap going on. that's the problem. Gangs and nut jobs. Not lawful folks.
