The real truth is that fructose, also called levulose, is actually better for you than ordinary white table sugar, aka sucrose. Sucrose is actually levulose bonded to glucose. Fructose is metabolized slower that both sucrose and glucose and less apt to cause problems for those with diabetes or hyperglycemia.
That's what I get for believing something I saw on the internet.
I do know for a fact (from personal experience) that eliminating processed or refined sugars and starches from my diet did wonders for my metabolism and I lost around 70 pounds in around 5 months. TRADOC helped with that, though. In IET you have almost no choice but to lose weight.

I lost around 70 lbs in basic. That was the early '80s at Fort Dix though, and the drill sergeants just yelled it out of me then.
I ate an awful lot of salted lettuce lunches and chef salad dinners then. I also found that unopened c-rat cans blew up pretty nicely when tossed into a fire, too. At least the jelly cans, that stuff was terrible. The cheese and peanut butter wasn't too bad, though.
Today's coffee is 100% water.
Tomorrow's coffee will be fireworks. As will Saturday's. And Sunday's. And probably Monday's as well. (I bought a lot of moon travelers.)
