    Hewlett Packard supply channel change:

What does this mean to us? As indies?

    "Dear Valued Customer,
Carolina Wholesale has been your trusted partner for over 40 years supplying
OEM/Compatible Imaging Supplies and Office Machines. As your partner, we want to notify you of the following changes concerning HP and their recent decision to change the way they go to market in our sales channel.

Over the last few months, HP has been working on a plan to reduce their distribution partners and gain more control over the sale of their products. As a result of this, they have decided to move to a ‘Closed Distribution’ model and in turn reduce the number of Authorized Distributors and Authorized Resellers. Currently, Carolina Wholesale is an authorized ‘Tier II Distribution Partner’ for HP. We were notified by our HP team that we will no longer be an authorized HP Distribution Partner as of November 1, 2013. As for the many customers who applied for an HP Partner Agreement but were not approved by HP, they will no longer have the ability to source HP products from an authorized HP distributor (Tier I Distributor). We understand your concerns and want to assure you that Carolina Wholesale will continue to provide a wide selection of imaging products to our customers which will include Genuine HP OEM Toner and Ink."

Re: Hewlett Packard supply channel change:

It looks as though you won't be able to order supplies from HP due to being a Tier II distributor, the stuff below it is a general disclaimer saying that clients of HP distribution who were not authorized by HP will no longer be able to purchase parts for them. It appears through the wording that you were an authorized dealer, so you may have to look into what credentials are required to become a Tier I distributor in order to continue purchasing and reselling HP supplies, else you have to look for an authorized Tier I distributor to purchase your supplies.
Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?
