There be spoilers ahead!
Still, if you haven't seen any of the "Honest Trailers" that are available on Youtube, you might get a chuckle from them.

An old timey animated video:
I don't know if you're interesting in the technical details of old cartoons. But I found this explanation of the making of that video fascinating:
How Chuck Jones Animated the Mongoose in 'Rikki-Tikki-Tavi' | Mental Floss
Warning: the non Youtube website listed above was not tested to it's full potential by me, so follow that link at your own peril!
That's not the point:
Somehow I find it interesting to know what is in a Chinese Army MRE and other armed forces around the world.
I find the add the water, get instant high heat very interesting.
From what I've seen, that is fascinating, for at least one time. If there are handwarmers that work with the humidity in the air where you are at, check them out as they work on a similar principal. Just don't do that inside, as the vapors that result stink.
I would have put the sausage pack in the heater with the entree, as that would have most likely softened up the mystery coating. I could be way off base, but for all the world based on the description given that sounds similar to the corn husk wrap on a good tamale.
FWIW!
we have come a long way
Hey, I worked on some of those!
(At least I thought I saw a 3M 215 in there somewhere, and maybe a 209, too. Except for corona box arcs and the exit rollers turning into goo, they were pretty good machines for their time. And after I changed the fuser rollers on a 215, I used the old rollers as tire thumpers for the deuce and a half I probably drove in the Reserves back then.)
The trailer for the movie "The Martian":

(Huh, guess I'm just posting links to the Youtube page at the moment, oh well.)
I found that as this
The Martian: Matt Damon sciences the sh*t out of the red planet
was featured on Slashdot sometime last week (I only check Slashdot on Sundays).
At least there are some other entertaining science fiction movie trailers there. I kind of liked the "The Leviathan" trailer anyway.
(Works best in full screen mode if your computer can handle that.)
Apparently I'd make a poor explorer of intergalactic space, because there are so many interesting looking things there I'd never get anything finished before I'd check something else out.
One word of warning, while the Spitzer Space Telescope (named after Lyman Spitzer) is OK, if you should ever come across something called the Elliot Spitzer Space Telescope, RUN AWAY!
