    Tech Tics/Habits/Quirks

Do you have any little tics/habits/quirks that you may unconsciously have?

I was doing a summer PM in a school, and the town network guy came in to work on the phone/server cabinet in the same room. As he puttered about he made little noises after each "step" or "task". Nothing loud or obnoxious, but noticeable because it was just the two of us in a large but quiet room.

I do the same thing, sometimes making little satisfied comments to myself as a step of a larger task is completed, that sort of thing. Most of the time I'm unaware that I do it, but listening to this guy made me aware of my own little habits.....

Of course, when things aren't going so well, I generate somewhat less satisfied comments....

    Do you?

No, you should probably seek professional help...

On a more serious note, I have always arranged the tape dispensers, staple pullers, and staplers on the table next to a copier I am working on. I line up all the implements "soldier style". Think that is abnormal?

I tend to hum quietly to myself, usually something by The Who. The benefit is that I don't actually talk out loud to myself while I'm humming. I consider it the less offensive option. Some people think that I'm particularly contented, but it's more practical than that. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Sometimes I might let out a heavy sigh.. Usually more often during or receiving disappointing service calls..

I generally whistle a tune quitely to myself as I'm working, more so if the radio is on.
With my lips closed firm, I can draw in small amounts of air over my teeth causing a low end whistle.
By moving my teeth slightly up,down I can change the pitch and key and whistle a tune quitely to myself while working.
I've only had one person ask me are you whistling a tune, to my surpise I was amazed they could hear my tune with such a low volume.

Okay, where is that straight jacket, do they have enough numbers for all of us team players ?
I'd like to reserve number 9, no particular reason....

I sing out loud. And it is just a few very old songs that I have stuck in my head. Stuff I don't listen to from the 40's and 50's such as "Chances Are", "White Christmas", "Unforgettable". I have a very deep baritone voice. It's mid July and I get a look every now and then when they hear me crooning "I;m dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know." I think I got it from watching Fred Sanford when I was younger.

Depends on the job and the day. Most days I'm smiling or humming a tune; other days I can be huffing and puffing like I was trying to blow a house down.
