    Vacation ... sort of

It looks like I'll be getting a little change of scenery starting the week of 08 September. Mrs. blackcat will be getting the first of two knee replacements, and will require some convalescence. I'll be around twiddling my thumbs at the hospital during the surgery, then being the homecare specialist for a week or so until she's back on her feet, Then the whole thing all over again with the other knee. I'm hoping to get about half of those as work days, so as not to be too large a financial strain on the blackcat household.

Nor do I plan to squander the days spent at home. I have 650 square feet of tile to do on the first floor. So in between steppin' and fetchin', I'll be laying and grouting tile.

Ok, so it doesn't sound much like vacation. More like double-duty, but definitely a change of scenery. My ankle is up to about 80% of where it was last year, so I think I'm up to it.

More to follow, if you're interested. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Mrs. blackcat expresses her thanks for your good wishes. She'll be walking better than me in no time. =^..^=

A friend of ours had one replaced just about a year ago.

She danced up a storm at her daughter's wedding a few weeks back!

    Re: Vacation ... sort of

Mrs Lagonda sends her fraternal greetings as she had her left knee replaced several years ago but after the excesses of her European holiday she thinks she'll be having the right one done shortly. She says Mrs Blackcat is in for a lot of short term pain but that is far outweighed by the return of mobility. How ever she will have to learn to walk all over again as Mrs Lagonda found out. It seems that over the years she had developed a rolling gait to avoid bending her knee and that creates other problems with hips and spine.
One of the IT chaps here had both knees done at once and recons it was the best way of going as it got it all over in one go.

PS. don't waste your time waiting for Mrs Blackcat to come out of surgery as she will be so full of joy juice she will be talking shorthand for 24 hours and won't notice if your there or not.

My cats were very concerned when I told them. Then I explained that Mrs Blackcat was a human and that this would not have any effect on the amount of kitty treats they received, and they are taking it a lot better. Best wishes to you and your Mrs.

You might get a kick out of this.

I was following Rosie through the kitchen and noticed that she was favoring her right rear paw. I snagged her up and examined the paw. I wiggled the paw and squeezed it, and it worked fine. No special reaction. When I put her down she did it again. Then I figured it out: She was mocking me, and imitating my gait! Only a cat would take the time to mock me. =^..^=

Suggest you discourage your cats from looking for a nice comfortable spot on Mrs BC. If they jump up on her sore leg you could hear a lot of language you didn't think she was capable of!
