That's when I send the boss a picture and ask if we're charging for this one. Then tell him to send the newbie out to the site.

That looks like they shook it upside down, because I distinctly remember going out to a machine several years ago (one of this family too, a Ricoh 2027 I think) where the customer had vigorously shook the toner after removing both cap and bung and a good quantity of it the hapless woman had ended up involuntarily wearing, inhaling and eating, the rest was liberally spread up the nearest wall, over the floor and over the machine. Nothing in the room got away without at least a light dusting.

(as an aside, she told me in tearful toner-covered hysterics that she was going to sue before being sent home by her boss. I've heard this threatened a few times over rather trivial things and always wonder just how far they get. I know in that situation you're kind of humiliated and desperate for it to be someone else's fault but come on.....)

The toner was probably still flowing when the escape was made hiding any footprints.

Was someone stupid enough to just stand there and empty the rest?

I've always suggested using a wet & dry vac to clean up a mess like this.
