Re: Scan to email set up ? Ricoh Mp 4000
The MP 4000 does not support SMTP over SSL so your choices are limited slightly. Since you are using gmail they do have a port 25 SMTP option. For the SMTP use aspmx.l.google.com. Port 25 TLS not required Dynamic IPs allowed. No authentication is required. Mail can only be sent to Gmail or Google Apps users.
If you are a Google Apps user there is also smtp-relay.gmail.com. Port 25, 465, or 587 SSL/TLS optional. One or more static IP addresses are required. IP address provides authentication. A registered user cannot relay messages to more than 10,000 recipients per day.
For more information on Google options see https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en
There are also local relay software options such as Stunnel, https://www.stunnel.org/index.html
There are numerous free email providers that either provide relay services. Search for other scan to email threads in this forum and in the Communications forum.
One other problem is that some ISP providers by default block port 25 in their DSL/cable modems. With some of them, AT&T Uverse for example, you can make a setting change in the modem. There are also some that block port 25 at their gateway switches. In that case your only choices are a local relay software or an email service that supports SMTP on port 80. GoDaddy used to but I haven't used them for over a year and a half.
