Post Smart Operation Panel service/installation guide

    Giday all,
After now winging my way through three installations with the new SOP, I think it's time to find a service manual.
We've been given a number of installation documents on how to install the SOP and set the SP codes.
Wifi direct from IOS and Android both work but all of this has been set up without a true Ricoh user manual.
if anyone has any information that they think will help me (and others) please feel free to share.
because at this stage there doesn't seem to be a great deal in the way of service manuals out there.
    many thanks.

Even with the service manual, I would suggest calling tech support for help. The sequence in the manual is unclear and not exactly correct unless they have updated it since the first SOP I installed.

Another thing about the SOP install is to make sure the machine is unplugged from the power outlet, before connecting the wire/usb harness's...........

Unplug and then press the power button until the power LED goes off so that all the capacitors discharge. I would advise against setting Smart Connect until the machine is on the customers network. It will save having to clear the settings when you do get to the customer.

Prior to installing the SOP or changing the SP’s, the machine must be updated with all the
firmwares for the Smart Operation Panel version of the machine. (Refer to the Mainframe
Firmware History document for more information.)
 When changing the screen on the market (standard screen Android screen), perform the
    following steps.
 Smart Operation Panel Type M3 is not the option for EU region. (Standard model)
    1. Change the SP modes below before changing the operation panel.
     Change SP5-748-101 bit0 to 1
     Change SP5-748-201 to 1
    2. Turn the main power OFF.
    3. Operation panel (page 3 "Operation Panel")

    5. Harness guide [A] ( × 2)

    Rev. 11/14/2013
    Installation Procedure
    D148-81 2 SM
    6. Attach the Smart Operation Panel Type M3.
    7. Turn the main power ON.
    8. Change the SP modes below.
     Change SP5-752-001 bit0 to 1
     Change Scanner SP1-041-001 bit0 to 1
    If fax option is installed,
     Change Fax SP3-301-001 bit0 to 1
    9. Turn the main power OFF/ON. If it is connected normally, the default setting icons are
    displayed.

This procedure as shown in the service manual is not correct. I had called tech support prior to installing my first one and was told to update to the latest NOP firmware first. The SP settings should then be changed. The SOP firmware should be installed only after the SOP has been installed, preferably at the first power up. They also said to fully discharge the power supply immediately prior to attaching the SOP, after turning off unplug the power cord and then hold power button, the main power LED should flash on /off. Do not plug the power cord back in until ready to power on.
