Ricoh 3245c reg off and crooked copies/prints

i know it's an antique but the customer loves it. that said

If registration is set at 0 the copies/prints are too far to the left (lead edge). if i max it out to 10 the copies/prints are just a bit over center to the right.

Copies/prints are also crooked on the page. doesn't matter b&w or color or which drawer you pull from all the same

Here's what i have done so far:

cleaned transfer unit rollers and changed transfer belt

change reg roller and reg sensor

changed entire right hand door assembly

    changed reg clutch

    changed black dev clutch

changed entire transfer unit with another one

none of the above has helped. does anybody have any ideas on why it's doing this? i have no hair left to pull out. any and all help is much appreciated!

Press the */. to give you negative numbers.
*3 give you -3 then # to lock it in.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Have you checked the side fences in the paper tray? If someone tries to move the front fence without unlocking the rear fence it can break teeth on the fence rails.

If the machine has its birth certificate tucked away, check what the registration values were on it from the factory. It may not also apply for single sided copies, but I always had issues with mylars in the inverter in this family causing skewed copies and jams.

The terms portrait and landscape refer to the orientation of the image on the paper, not the orientation of the paper in the feed trays. Try using SEF for Short Edge Feed and LEF for Long Edge Feed.

Check the amount of pressure at both ends of the registration roller. Uneven pressure will cause the paper to skew.

I don't know if this will help, but if time permits you might try increasing the registration buckle and see what happens.

I will add to this, print out the non default sp to see if anything is totally off track.

Is the problem linear when you reduce or enlarge. ie is the angle of skew the same ?

post a copy an a print to the forum.

First, induce a jam while the entire sheet of paper is on the transfer belt. You need to determine if it is a paper skew or not. The paper should be statically attached to the belt. If the paper is skewed there is a mechanical issue. I didn't see any mention of the bypass tray. Run it. The bypass has a different paper path and can help in narrowing down the location. Try inducing a jam while the paper is still in the reg roller. Skewed or not? These transfer units are know for having bearings inside the unit seize. This will cause various problems and swapping it with a used unit might not help you as they may both be bad (I've had this happen to me on one of these machines).
