MP6000 ADF runs 3 or 4 sheets then goes int ADF jam.

I use simulation DF free run and insert 10 sheets of paper. Erratic-maybe third or 5th sheet will come out about 3" and the machine will stop and display will instruct me to remove ADF jam.

I replaced the ADF feed roller, belt and separation roller.

What have you found (not guess) caused this problem.

    Just the normal things really.

    • Check for obstructions.
    • Clean all the fixed DF feed rollers.
    • Clean all the sensors and pits and check they come on and off via input mode.
    • Search the bulletins relating to the jam code.

Then failing the basics rip the back cover off and start taking a more in-depth look (clutches, solenoids, loose belts, worn or cracked gears, knackered bushings etc etc).

Same as Cipher - a million options, what jam code does it show that on the log? Sp 5990-004

I am assuming that you are using DF free run because it is jamming during normal DF operation. Can you provide us with the jam code that you are getting during normal operation?

The customer had no toner so I couldn't run the machine in normal mode but I will check for that code on Monday.

I ran ADF input check with paper stopped in ADF Group 1 bits had all zeros, Group 2 had bit 7 and 3 on and Group 3 had bits 0 and 1 on.
With paper removed Group 1 and Group 2 bits were zero and Group 3 had bits 0 and 1 on.

I'm beginning to guess Exit sensor but I'll find out as I take apart ADF. (I already charged the customer and he still owes me $10.00!)

This is probably not the solution you are looking for, but you still need to clean the sensors on the doc feeder's input tray to eliminate the chance that the doc feeder is just detecting the size of the document incorrectly.
That bit me in the sitting muscles enough back in the day.

There is a black felt over the reg sensor that is accessed by removing the left lower guide from under df (2 screws and a collared one at the front-remove the front cover first).

Most likely cause of intermittent jam
