Check the pressure spring assembly on the side that is not fusing. Also check the pressure release arm on that side is not loose/broken/missing.

Stop copy midway through process and isolate if its from fuser.
Also check if it applies to both mono and color.

It's a pretty safe bet that anything stopped before the fuser will be unfused

The firmware upgrade is a rather involved process that would be best left to a trained tech. If done incorrectly it can cause your machine to become a rather unique door stop. It would be better to eliminate all possible physical defects before trying that.
For example, are you using Ricoh toner? After market toner sometimes will cause this, but not always.
Thick paper can cause the problem you have described too, if the machine is not properly set up for it.
(Also, incorrectly labeled paper will cause this as well, a fact that causes me a great deal of irritation.)

That was my first question: Are the correct media types being selected? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
