The issue with Windows 10 specifically with scan to folder is that the SMB protocol version has been increased from v1 to v2/3.
Unfortunately, this increase in security stops the use of many of the older series of machines (have found including and all models before the MPC4500 do not have firmware for support) using this feature. They can only use SMBv1.
There are a few options you have if you want to keep both: running Windows 10 and the existing old device.
- Use FTP. Its still supported and it works. Not overly difficult to setup.
- Use scan to email. Easiest option. I generally set customers to go through their ISP SMTP and it works well.
- Get a NAS drive. They will support SMB from older devices and they run a small linux client which doesn't have those restrictions.
Last option and most definitely the LEAST recommended way, is the change the SMB security on the Windows 10 machine. I do not like to decrease security, it has been bumped up for a reason and you're just asking for trouble. But it is possible and I've tested it to work (for giggs). You are essentially turning back on the SMBv1 options, bit of a fiddle but yeah.
