You are correct! We had apple , ricoh, microsoft and others working on this and it would not work. Not even sure why you would pursue if your scan to email is working. email seems a better fix anyway. As we all know though that no matter what we think the client may have different thoughts and thus, UPGRADE!

Interesting!:: Re: Scan to Folder Mac OS 10.11 Using MPC4500

At an office location just this last week, the customer upgraded to Mac OS X 10.11 and their SMB scan quit working.

Their MFP is a Kyocera desktop color model.

Before you jump on me about posting Kyo info here, hear me out.

This is the process I took.

-MFP firmware upgrade. (scan didn't work)
-Re-entered/re-created shared folder sharing settings and credentials at the Mac PC. (scan didn't work)
-Downloaded and installed SMBUp (Version 1.4.1 as of this post). SMBUp disables Apple's native Mac OS X SMB Folder sharing feature and enables SAMBA, which is an open source implementation of SMB.

Anyway, Long Story Short, SMBUp DID WORK!!!...I was surprised....since I had installed SMBUp at a previous establishment running all Mac's that were upgraded to OS X 10.11. Prior to the 10.11 upgrade (They used a Ricoh/Savin color MFP--upgraded to most most recent NCS firmware) I had installed SMBUp and had everything running great! Then they installed OS X 10.11, which broke the SMBUp install....I went back and tried to re-install SMBUp, but to no avail!

The ONLY difference between these two locations is the MFP's! The Ricoh/Savin being somewhat older than the Kyocera!

    SMB--YMMV!!!

Ok some progress. After installing smbUP i can browse the network on the ricoh but no shared folders show up there.

You installed the most up to date NCS firmware on your MFP???

Make sure you have SMBUp as a startup item so it re-initializes when the computer is restarted.

Check under user accounts of the control panel for startup items....make it hidden after startup.

Definitely restart the Mac to make sure the SAMBA service starts up properly and stays maintained.

PS--make sure that Mac's file sharing check box is un-ticked!....SMBUp uses its own implementation of file sharing!!!
