    MPC2003 printing Dark

I have a two week old machine which has less than 1000 prints on it which is printing photos really dark. Every print comes out dark like a miserable winters day when the photo on the screen is a bright sunny day.

Before you think it's screen calibration or RGB to CMYK isn't the same and it's not a WYSIWYG printer etc etc the same photos print perfectly on their existing MPC2551.

I've calibrated it but haven't touched anything else as everything is as per a standard machine.

As a workaround I've created a profile in the print driver with the brightness increased by 50%.

Anyone seen this, using PCL6 driver

    Thanks

    Hi there!
On the last Ricoh-workshop (in Germany) they reported about this problem, but the only solution until now is to download a socalled ICM-colour-profile and work with it. Personaly i´ve seen this problem not at our machines.
    Greetings...

hi zeldaman I have an mpc2503 and some mpc3003 that all the customers do is say the pic that they print out are to dark I have tried the files on other copier like mpc 2800 3501 and they all print great I have also tried the adj the bit swt to get the copier better as per a bulletin from ricoh but it made very little change these copiers just print very poor it seems but then they are marketed as business copiers I would love to see an answer from ricoh.

One thing I had read concerning Metis line is that a full Auto Color Calibration should be ran not only prior to install but also after every firmware update. I don't know if this will help, but my experience with complaints of light copies has been that either there are no values in the ACC or it has been a long time since it was run. Cleaning the optics and running ACC usually takes care of the light copies.

It's dark prints not light prints. I'll try and upload some samples later

If the dark print is due to the print controller in the machine, the color gray scale will be printed darker than normal in the printer portion of the ACC. The scan portion will then detect that and adjust to compensate, assuming that the scanner has already been calibrated in the copy ACC.
