Not had any problems. New fresh paper does not equal high quality paper or proper storage. Only time I had curl problems was a machine out in a corrugated steel shop building. During cold stormy weather, the first 10 -12 pages would curl up into 1" diameter tubes. Since it was not used for fax, I told them to remove the paper and store it in a plastic container over night.

Some old news, it used to be a good idea to tell people to load paper in machines with the seam side of the ream wrapper up. Due to one part of the standard way paper is manufactured, curling would be somewhat less prevalent then, although bad paper would always curl too much.
I actually haven't seen the curling issue for some time, but it seems to be making a comeback, though. I've seen a lot more damaged ream wrappers around here lately, and that's death for paper. At least when run through machines that use a thermal fusing process.

I'm seeing this a lot, especially as now the driver default to duplex, so every print is being double side.

The only real fix I have found is tell the customer to use thicker paper, 100gsm seems to work perfectly.

    Re: Metis Paper curl.

See more of this as customers use cheaper paper to save costs. Sometimes helps to turn the stock to landscape and let auto rotate take care of things but it's easy enough to confirm if the stock is the culprit - pick up a ream of decent stock on route to the recall

Tray heaters used to switch on only when the main power switch was off so didn't help if the machine's usual environment was cold/damp. Haven't looked at how the current range's heaters are set up.

Btw, be careful with 100gsm. That falls into the 'middle thick' range so if you run it as plain paper you run the risk of offsetting and screwing up an expensive fuser. If the customer uses 100gsm, set the paper tray on the copier to the correct type and use the auto tray switching feature to get around paper type mismatch's on print jobs (user's don't like/forget/can't be bothered changing paper types in the print driver).

Ayeright you are so true about the user cant be bothered to do the correct thing in the settings. they complain about CQ due to fuser offsetting and are printing 120 gms paper with 60-81 gms settings. Duhhh!

    Re: Metis Paper curl.

You could try the curling correction sp (SP1113) to ON "2" setting.

I find it interesting that on EVERY paper type temp setting they suggest lowering fusing temp IF curl occurs.... Do they know there is a problem??

1113 [Curl Correction] 001 Execute Pattern
    *ENG [0 to 2 / 0 / 1/step]
    0: OFF
    1: ON(No Decurl)
    2: ON
    Enable/disable curl correction.
    Press the GREEN button!!
