    Toner near end message off?

Is there any SP to turn off the "toner near end" that is displayed on the screen, often our customers changes the toner when this message appears, sometimes all the toners!!!

Set SP3101-13 to 16 to a low value, like 5 or 10, to reduce the near end detection.

Setting it too low can cause some machines to ignore it completely and never report the bottle as empty. Also, best to educate the users on the correct time to replace the bottles.

    Hi Ruben

Thanks, it's hard to educate teachers to anything...

It would be nice just to disable the message and not the function.

I've experienced this issue with several users, partly due to the fact that I used to explain to them that they could/should change the toner in their previous B&W machine when the "low toner" indicator came on because the bottle was empty and that it was just running on its 'reserve' (what was already in the dev unit).

I've started sticking BIG BOLD LABELS inside the front cover, below the toner cartridges that read something like"Toner should only be replaced once fully depleted and copying/printing is no longer possible"

This seems to be helping in my case, and I've also lowered the threshold as Ruben suggested - especially in the lower usage clients, so that it doesn't flash for several months before finally running out

Toner low message will come on with approximately 17% left in the bottle, calculated from the amount of toner used since the was installed. At that point it will also display Prepare new toner. When the bottle runs out, the toner end sensor will detect no toner coming out of the bottle and it will display a toner end message and replace toner soon. At that point they ill get about 100 prints before the machine will display Toner Out Replace toner now and the printing will be disable. We keep the toner icon display on for our customers. Those that do a low volume of usage, we tell to order a new black when the icon is down to 2 bars for black and when the near end message is displayed for color.

If you set SP3-100-001 this turns the low toner message off completely then will just warn the cutomers when toner is empty.
All you need to do is ensure they have a spare set on site & tell them to order a new one when used.

Not applicable to all models. Could only find in the 03 and production 02 service manuals. On the 03s, SP 3100-002 might be a better choice. SP 3100-002 can be set to display toner near end based on toner sensor only and not calculated % remaining. This gives a warning before the machine stops.

Yes I set all my machines to use the TD sensor for toner low SP3110-02
I also change the near end display as follows this then sets the toner low warning to come on later.
    SP3110-001 = 15, 002 = 10, 003 = 10, 004 = 10
