    Mpc5502 not recoqnising new toner

Guys, got sent to an mpc5502, customer saying not seeing the black toner. 'Toner near empty' message displayed. Put in another black toner and surely message did not change, tried three in total , and no alteration of the 'toner low' message , like it does not see the new toner (Ricoh original). What are we missing here ? Any ideas appreciated.

They should not be replacing the toner when getting the "toner near empty" Only when the machine stops & says "Toner empty"

Zaxxon, thanks for suggestion, will look into it. Don't know this machine that well yet, but sounds very plausible. Have you done one before, easy to do ?

Copier tech, I know that, you know that, but sometimes customers choose to do so, and when they change toner early it should still be recognised should it not ?

Tonerbomb, would it not be trying to load the toner for some seconds before failing if it was an auger problem ?

I've not had a toner pump go down in an '02 yet. Does the machine even attempt to add toner? If not, is the paper bank door open?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Re: Mpc5502 not recoqnising new toner

Had that problem once, turned out to be an SP (still trying to download the manual to check out what it was) that basically turned off the New PCU Detection.

In our case that SP was off because one of the PCDUs had the wrong TD Sensor (or it was the wrong PCDU), so with the SP enabled it would complain that the PCDU was not inserted or it was the wrong one (can't remember which).

So check out what SP enables the new PCU detection and turn it on if it is off.
