    MPC305 striped image

    Hi!

I got an MP C305 from an auction - I changed toners on it and now when I print, I get this:

    Black and White:

I guess there was a lot of toner waste in the machine (dirty), but what could these mean? Drums?
    Any ideas?

    The printer count have:
    Black & White : 14061
    Full Color : 19499

    Thank you in advance!

With those low counts the drums wont need replacing.

But if you got the machine from an auction you dont know how long it has be stored for & in what conditions, cold & damp etc.

I would run say 30+ duplex prints to stirr the drum/dev units. If quality doesnt improve most likely you have some dirt/toner on the laser glass.

Easiest way to clean is remove the top copy tray cover, one screw in the top corner above the toner, you'll see the two laser units, one screw & they lift out, do it gently with out unplugging the ribbon cable, turn them over you'll see the glass, clean each one & fit back.

Big thanks for you quick answer. I will try this tomorrow and get back to you!
Yes, the printer have been transfered in a car and they left the toner in it mean while. Not such a good idea. I've tried to blow out all toner with compressed air but will try to clean everything else as good as I can!

Unless you have the laser unit, drums, ITB, etc., removed from the machine, Air compressor = Bad idea

    X2 ...Big-um bad-um idea all round.

Be careful that you don't force a high static voltage on the machine from compressed air. It's a good practice to ground/earth the machine before using any compressed air on the machine. I'm informed that you can generate as high as 40Kv of static electricity from plastics during the dry air winter months.
With that sort of high static charge it's quite possible to force a permanent logic high on the IC boards in the machine.

I've personally witness blown network boards from static electricity alone.

Ouch, I did not know that. Even used carefully with Compressed Air on can?
I've used it on several computers without any damage. I think with a vacuum cleaner its a greater risk to build up static electricity?

However, thank you for warning me : -)

    Best regards

Sorry for being such a newbie here, but what screw do you refer to? Every screw above the toners?

Just one screw in the top left corner just above the black toner
