    MP305+SPF Document feeder skewing fault.

    Hello guys,
I have a machine, brand new, it seems to generate this fault when testing it during run up. The document feeder unit starts to skew images after feeding a few originals. This is the second machine we have been testing out of the box and it is doing the same. New models so need a lil help. Thanks.

Stupid question: you are using the document guides to straighten the docs when using the feeder? I ask because these new feeders are very flimsy and WILL feed skew if you don't use the guides.

Other than that, all we have had is if the customer scan a lot the separation pad wears down like mad!

    Thanks for replying.
Yes the guides are intact and have been adjusted in accordance to the paper size. The ADF is A3 size max and we have tested long edge and short edge feed. I know it is caused by the separation pad just wondering if there is a total solution to this fault, or any modifications released since I dont have any technical documents for these.

    Hi,
Ricoh has released the document about the adjustment procedure for ADF.
    See the attaced file.RD259049.pdf

If you cannot improve the skew issue with the adjustment, loosen the screws of the guide plate and then re-install that.
It seems that the guide plate is sometime installed at a slant.

    Hello,

We are 4 for 4 skewing right out of the box.
Cleaning and polishing the slit glass helps a little.
Tried the fix listed in the bulletin, no change.

We had one that the solenoid for the duplex diverter gate wasn't attached properly in the ADF.

Is maybe the scanning bed bent out of shape just a bit?

Cool Re: MP305+SPF Document feeder skewing fault.

    Found It!

Its in the service manual under the "Sub Scan Magnification" section on the ADRF.
Turns out that the right hinge has 2 alignment pins under it. After the pins are removed the
ADRF can be adjusted for skew.

Re: MP305+SPF Document feeder skewing fault.

Anyone had an issue with duplex originals? I have two separate units where the sprung loaded lever, pushed down by the top cover, on the front side comes out of its housing and caches the paper as it reverses back through. Ringing any bells with anyone?
