Question Ricoh MPC 3002 SC 672

Picked up a MPC 3002 off lease. When powered on screen says " ,hard disc replaced, needs formatted" execute format and then SC 672-000.
If I disconnect the hard drive, system comes to ready and functions ( no scan function ) I figure this means the controller is ok.
I notice the hard drive with the MPC 3002 is 100GB, where specs call for 190GB. ( I don't have a 190 GB or larger to test with ) Is this "smaller hard drive
causing the SC 672 ? and do I have to use a 190 GB to repair , or can I go larger ?

More than likely the previous owner removed the HDD to be destroyed, and replaced it with whatever could be found.

Any similar sized HDD should work.

See for more info on SC672: SC672.pdf

Thanks , that is what I thought as well. Just to confirm, can I install a larger HDD like a 200GB or does it need to be exact 190GB match ?

No, as long as the replacement (target) is the same OR larger. I've put 500 gig HDD's in and they work just fine. Just replace it and format it in mode 5.

Just make sure you copy the stamp data and initialise the address book with 5846-047.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Just in case there are a few who don't know, an off the shelf HDD from Frey's Electronics, Best Buy, etc. work just fine. 50.00 or 60.00 bucks......
