Got a client with the 4502 that suddenly started to smear on the op side of pages. Swap the drum with the same result . Color pages look fine just the black is a problem .
Is there something going on with the fuser possibly on this?

Hi there!
Yep! My 2 cents on the fuser, it may look OK, but after a time it smears. When the old sleeve-roller is installed, the problem occurs earlier.
Greetings...
Yep, right on the money! Fuser. Odd, fuser looks absolutely fine and only has about 100k on it. Time for a rebuild I suppose. Any thoughts on best place for parts for these fusers?
Get the printer version (SPC830) and simply swap the wiring loom over. Sounds tricky but it's super simple. Disconnect the thermistors and feed the wires out of the base plate, leaving the thermistors in place on the fuser itself. Swap out the entire wiring harness and you're done. The printer version comes with a new transfer roller also. If you aren't an authorized Ricoh dealer, order the fuser from Pro Vantage. I'm told they have the best prices for the grey market. I've seen these fusers with less than fifty k and the copy quality is terrible (light copies, etc) Freaked me out the first time I put in a new fuser and the solids came right back. I haven't had much luck replacing just the the heat sleeve.
anyone have the bulletin on this problem?
My guess is there won't be a bulletin on this one. No one wants to admit these fusers are the week link on this series......
there is a bulletin i just lost it
Anyone? Someone must have that bulletin still. It is the one that has you change temps and such on the fuser to stop the smearing.
Anyone?
Hi there!
I think you mean the bulletin RD144057. There´s also a bulletin about faulty fuser-motors. If you changed the mod. sleeveroller with pressureroller or change the complete fuser and the problem reoccurs, you have to change the fusermotor. The partno. is the same, but there´s a marking on the modified motor.
Greetings...
At one point replacing the fuser motor was a compulsory mod.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.
