    Mpc305SPF defectiv Gear from Fuser

    Hello,

i have a question about the Mpc305SPF, maybe the new 306/406 have the problem too, but i´m not sure.

We have a few customer with about 60k-80k sites or the system ist over one year old.
At this point often the fusing gear gets defectiv.
The customers often tell us when they hear noises or the print get dirty or the systems jams.
But that is often too late.

At first i think, okay switch the fuser or the gears in the fuser. depends on the counter and the status of the fuser.
But often the gears of the fuser drive are also defectiv. And that ist very bad.
I switched the gears AB017850 ,AB017848, AB017849. To change it i need about 30-45 minutes and the hole back cover witch controller and psu and some other parts must be take off.

After 2-3 systems i call ricoh about the problem. They tell me i should grease the gears. Good advice, i´ve done that, but the gears lose particel and fusion witch the grease and that bring me time for about 5k-10k...

And if the gears of the drive were defectiv, you can rubbish the system, because of the time and the new price. (Fuser + Gear + time, and perhaps pcdu itb by 60-80k or something...)
If the customer have a contract it´s very exprensiv for us otherwise for the customer.
Now i often grease the gears, but the fusing had a lifetime about 120k?!!!!

Have you also these problems, and a advice for me?

    Thanks a lot!

Re: Mpc305SPF defectiv Gear from Fuser

    Hi there!
If you look in the newest version of the 3D-partskatalog, there are 2 new numbers for the gears of the fuser. The newer machines are equipped with the mod. gears.
Since this change, we have no more fuser-problems.
    Greetings...

I dont rebuild the fuser any more as its about £70 (€80) for the whole fuser. Find the gears go first then the press roller splits.

I change also the hole fusing unit. I´ve never seen a fuser run about 120k.
And i heard that if the fuser gears broke you should change them.
But my problem are not the fuser gears. Change the fuser gears (about 20€) or the hole unit (about 80€) is bad by a lifetime about 120k.

The problem are the gears from the main copier in the drive unit.
Often they damaged by the fuser gears. And then you need to change all gear, from the drive and the fuser. Or replace it with a new fuser.

The new fuser made the same noises when the drive gears are damaged.

Same here, just fit a new fuser, it's not worth just replacing individual parts.

These little 305's are only good for light use, ideally suited for the home user, in a busy office they fall over all the time.

Re: Mpc305SPF defectiv Gear from Fuser

We used to replace the fuser sleeve on these, until we discovered a complete fuser unit was 3 times cheaper.

Gears are easy to replace if you want to save some money.
