    Ricoh 4501A Fax Receive Problems

    Dear All,

I have been a lurker on here for a while and have been using the very informative information. I would like to thank all in advance.

As above I seem to be having problems receiving faxes. I have turned of the ECM and it made a bit of a difference.

Can someone provide me with a service manual for the above printer for the relevant bits to adjust.

I want to slow it down to RX speed to 14400 but do not now the bits to adjust.

Is there any other settings that I can make to ensure better receptions. eg

Initial TX modem rate - set to 14.4
Initial RX modem rate - set to 14.4
PABX equalizer - set to high (both tx and rx)
PSTN cable equalizer - set to high (both tx and rx)
Reconstruction time - set to 12s

Can you the bit to adjust

    Thanks

Apparently the MPC4501 has an auto speed step-down system to make sure the transmission has the best possible chance of sending. There are no speed settings in the UP's that I can find. Have you connected a normal phone to the line to check for noise? Is the machine using the correct fax lead?

Correct fax lead? I just found one that fitted is there a specific one.

I'll will check for noise on line. I take it that's a telecom provider issue.

    Thank.

Yes, there is definitely a specific one. The part number is 11758X. Yes, any noise on the line will be a telecoms provider issue.

    Thanks.

I have noticed the fax issue comes from one source/online fax provider.

I'll give the suggestions above a shot.

    Thank again.

This may help. This is for a C4501, type c5000 D393 fax option.
