Re: Broken Fuser gears 2075- MP 8000

As a side note, I'd ensure the fuser rollers were nice and lubed and check the bearings for seizing. These things get pretty nasty pretty quick. I go out to one 7502 a week at least for thermistor sensing errors due to toner build up on the thermistor.

We have about the same. There is a TSB for that series a for adjusting some SP settings that is supposed to help. I'm not convinced at the moment though.

I experienced sc 542 and 552 due to toner build up on the thermistors.......since we have the type 9002...

Seems to me sometimes TSB's are there to only seem like they've fixed a problem without actually doing anything. Take the TSB for noise coming from the fuser for the C2551, for instance...

Plain and simple....shittily designed gear!...even though they have the angled tooth helical design, the gear body doesn't have nearly enough "meat" to it to keep it together!...and like others mention, they almost break exactly in half! There was only one that I remember failing that it either had just a smaller chunk break out of it or it cracked on one side and was getting ready to split on the opposite side! As long as Ricoh has been around you'd think they'd do a better job with their materials enginnering!...oh well, I guess not!

I don't know what happens to ricoh...but since a few years they produce very bad products or parts....the mp 5000 for example....that haves the same problems.as the Aficio 450.....

Just wait until you have to take apart a 201 or 301.

Keep the fusing unit properly maintained and you will have far less problems. This includes replacing the hot and pressure roller bearings. Either that or keep them packed with silicon grease. If the bearings turn rough then they can cause the gear to break.

We used to have a lot of those gears breaking when we were trying to extend the life of the fuser parts beyond what Ricoh recommended. We learned that the fuser rebuild need to be done at the recommended intervals, 450k for the MP6002-7502-9002 series. The fuser kit PMD131450k for the 6002-7502 and PMD133450k for the 9002 has the bearings in it.
