    Mp6001 DF jamming when duplexing

Called out to a mp6001 that was supposedly jamming in the duplex. I found that the copier was copying fine, simplex ok, duplex ok, copy normal. The DF on simplex was fine, however, when copying duplex from the DF, the original would jam approximately before the scan slit, and, the copy would stop at near the registration in the copier, and the copier appears to 'hang up' with panel indication showing 'copying, copying.....' , no jam indication. But nothing else happening. Only clears if copier is switched off and on again. What is going here ? DF faulty ? Checked all sensors on the DF and they check out ok. I checked if any background sc codes were being generated and saw that sc 310 and sc351 were being generated (id sensor and drum potential sensor). What is happening here, and what if anything do those sc codes have to do with what is going on with the DF ?

what is your developer count at. those codes are usually the warning signs that your developer is finished. as for your jamming issue in the df ... clean all the one way gears in the back of the feed section. the are very trouble some ... have caused us lots of issues.

Can't see it. That would cause jamming just in the DF, not in the copier itself or the copier hanging up like that.

Re: Mp6001 DF jamming when duplexing

Take this with a grain of salt as I don't work on that model.
But that sounds like there may have been a voltage surge that caused the internal software to loose track of what it is doing. I saw that mostly on Risographs and HPs, which caused some really bizarre problems, but I did see that occasionally on some of the Ricohs I worked on also.
I might be full of crap, but I'd start out by unplugging the machine and checking the wall outlet it is plugged into, including safety ground. I'd probably check to see if the firmware is up to date after that. Might check the paper size sensors in the paper path as well.
Sorry if this was a waste of time.

Re: Mp6001 DF jamming when duplexing

Can you copy a double sided page to single sided copies ?

If yes then the problem could be the controller , RAM or hard drive

If no then the problem could be the ADF, RAM, Controller or hard drive

    Check it in that order

No. Anything going through the DF duplex path has the same result.

That sounds like a very reasonable suggestion.

That seems like a different situation altogether. The DF is physically jamming, here the DF duplex seems to be causing the copier to crash.

    I don't think so !

I will go with firstly the DF as whole to swap, or the HDD suggestion as very plausable.

when the machine has a scan function, can you scan a duplex, or not?
Unplug and plug back in all the connectors of the df main board.
I presume it is the wright DF for that model...
