What to know about the added "A" on some color series.

    gd morning

I resell lease returns ricohs and service them and saw some MPC3502A,MPC4501A units.
Are these just a modded 2 nd generation or something more worth noting?
    Anything to watch out for?
ie are all the boards interchangeable in same model with or w/out an A?

I believe the A denotes a machine with a single pass doc feeder. Base machines will be the same but ARDF's are different.

They're some sort of more secure version I think, with HDD encryption and DOS kit as standard. I think.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

The left side of the doc feeder will appear more tall and square than the normal feeder, as it has to accommodate a CIS assembly (which scans the second side of the doc at the same time as the first side is being scanned by the scanner assembly.

There is also a second connection from the SPDF to the main frame. The second cable goes directly to the CIS.
