Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
Hello
i just got a used Ricoh MP C4500 in donation with pump problems( black pump was defective so i order one in china).
i just made a few prints before black toner was empty : i was able to install the printer and wrote test pages without any problem.
i don't remember if web access was ok because i didn't test it.
I made a few search about my new toy ( i mean the printer ) while waiting for my black pump and found the codes to enter service mode ( you know yellow button + 107 + hold c button )
So i decided to explore this service mode and as far as i remember i didn't change anything.... ( i am sure i made something wrong , otherwise i would still be able to print , which is not the case).
Here are the results now :
1-Web access is not working anymore ( 404 error thru lan or directly connected to my pc via ethernet)
2-No error message at printer startup but no printing is allowed because printer is offline ( third physical button on the printer where you can select which paper case you want to use , it says OFFLINE and there is no way you can activate ONLINE, it comes back to OFFLINE )
3-i have check a few things before posting
-SP5-828-091 is "1" (ON)
-User tools / System settings / interface settings / permit ssl/tls communication/ set to "clear txt/cyphertext
4-ping is ok (thru lan or directly connected )
5-telnet is ok ( thru lan or directly connected )
thru telnet i was able to login and
access flush ( just to be sure there were no ip restriction )
set web up
set http up
logout ( to save settings )
6-Scan button doesn't work too
7- oops i forgot to mention that in User Tools, Printer Features doesn't work anymore
i have read a lot of threads but i have no idea what could be done next.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Best regards
Jérôme

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
Print/scan on those machines is on an sd card in slot 1. I'd start by checking that. HDD and Ram(should be 1024) ok?

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
Print the SMC Diagnostic Report SP 5990-005. Check if printer and scanner firmware versions are shown.
Change -User tools / System settings / interface settings / permit ssl/tls communication/ set to "Ciphertext Priority"

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
hello
thanks for your advice ( i am a real beginner in printer )
I found a sd card in slot 1
you will find a screen of all folders of sd card .... i don't know exactly what i should look inside the sdcard.
Btw , i didn't test hdd nor memory ... is there an easy way to do it ?
once again , thanks for all

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
Check SP 5985 - 001 On board NIC must be set to 1
You also can check SP 5985 - 002 for USB

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
If you cant print a diagnostic report 5990-005 can you print a counter page?
Check sp 7403 for any sc codes that may have been logged but not displayed on the screen
you said you could telnet in...try typing show at the telnet prompt and see if any protocols(ipp, lpr...) are disabled...

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
This might be the stupidest post on your thread, sorry about that.
But what operating system is your network using?
That can be kind of important information with older machines like that. I don't know about Apple or Linux systems, but thanks to the security updates an old machine can be unusable in newer Microsoft Windows environments.

Just curious, are you a tech or end user?

Re: Ricoh MP C4500 not printing and no web access
@mrfuser i am just an end user . In fact, i am a network admin teacher in a training center for unemployed people. Most of computers and servers we use are donations from former students we had. We were given two Ricoh printer ( one MP C4500 and one MP C2050 ) i try to fix.
@iowatech we use Dell poweredge servers with 2008 R2 and VM with Hyper V. but as i told you in my first message, we had no problem to use the printer before i entered service mode so i think it's not os related.
