    [PRINT QUALITY] MP-C2500 Vanishing Colour

Hi, I have a problem with the quality of the print on MP-C2500. The attached pdf illustrates the symptoms. Because the device is ~350km away from my office I'd like to ask for your opinion on the possible cause. I have some assumptions but, due to the distance, I would like to be sure.

That's not the sort of fault that can be diagnosed without looking at the machine. The colours all seem to fade towards the lower half of the page, which could be a bad ITB unit, PTR or broken PTR bushing on the inside frame of the machine.

The total loss of half the black image could be the laser shutter. The images themselves seem quite poor, are the drums and devs over life?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Start with the beginning: what is lifetime pcu, developer? If they are "young"
    clean optics well.
    do music
    repl. ITB cl.unit
    if not ok
    clean pcu's.
    Still not ok? Replace.

It's a scan and the device is located at a construction site so it may look worse than it acctualy is (dirty mirrors). According to numbers K is 50k pages old, CMY around 120K (more than 80k, but I know that they are quite durable).

I also have a similar problem on another machine (K vanishes down the page). Replacing PCU, ITB + Cleaning Unit, Laser Unit solved nothing and the machine was put aside due to lack of time for further inspection.

Start with the laser shield glasses. Toner and dust can built up on them and block the laser beams.

Laser shield glasses are not part of the optics, they are part of the laser assembly.

Well, because the trip is taking place on Sunday, I'll inform you all how it all ended on Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for all the input.

The black looks to be either that the paper transfer roller is not evenly applying pressure to the itb (check for the spring to be popped out or broken frame) or the developer is really depleted The cmy looks more like what was mentioned previously, the shutter is not fully opening. Make sure the firmware is current, if it's really old then there has been an update to correct the shutter issue. See attached bulletin....
