You can use these counters to determine how much coverage the customer is using in their colour copies/prints. Keep in mind these machines as designed as "business" or "spot" colour machines, and therefore the volumes of toner on hand in the machine was never calculated to do heaps of full bleed full colour jobs.
Flipside is, if the customer has the machine idle for ages and only print occasionally, then the machine will eventually do a toner refresh (this is documented but not common knowledge) - where it dumps all the toner in the dev units and pumps in fresh toner. This can also wreak havoc with toner yields.
