The jumper on the fax board, move it from off to on.

As mentioned, make sure the small blue jumper on the fax board is set to ON. Even on machines with the board installed at the warehouse the jumper can be forgotten and you just have to change it.
Just slide the unit out and you should be able to see the jumper towards the bottom. It will have "ON" "OFF" in very fine print on either side of a 3-pin jumper.

I had to install and uninstall the board multiple times and during this I was getting random sc672 errors. Finally on one of the reinstalls it just started working out of the blue ! Yeah Ricoh

Hmm....where have I heard this before?
It would have worked the first time had you checked/ secured the MBU as stated in the beginning.

Trust me it was very secure from the very first install just for some reason it would not take

Only way I could have made it more secure was to solder it together !

The "Random" SC672s is worrying. It is possible for that to occur if you cycle the power too often too fast, but outside of that the CTL could just as easily be shot. And with the Fax having so many issues it wouldn't be a huge surprise.

Could also be the hdd if the fax is trying to use it for address book, might be worth a format
