The service manual also indicates that the operation panel connector and or harness could be at fault. I would imagine the panel itself could be at fault even though the manual does not say so. FWIW. Good hunting.

Had a few of these, most we sent back as DOA, others we tried control panel, cables, firmware, and boards. All with mixed results.

Seems to be hit and miss.

Usualy the operation panel connector loose, broken, or defective
The users move up down too often the operation panel and the cable has failed.

The few times I have run into this it was the Controller PCB. Once if I remember it was a bad memory DIMM.

Good luck and follow the RTB if you have access to it

I had one about a month ago. Complete power down, unplug from the wall, took the back off and reseated the USB cable for the operation panel at the frame side end.

I'd try to reseat the IPU connection to the controller. I had similar issue on a mpc8002 and had to replaced a controller + op panel as a set.

the main problem is the fault code itself is inaccurate

Guys this is a known fault from the factory.

The egg heads building these devices have cable tied the USB cable and harness which runs from the Op Panel to the IPU way too tight which break the USB cable

If you ever get a SC672-11 or SC672-12 on these devices, turn them off immediately and go to a computer shop and buy a USB to micro USB cable, male to male I think.

Disconnect the cable and tuck it away neatly in the cavity, dont bother removing it, takes too much time and effort and run the new cable through the cavity (just follow the old USB cable)

If you get it early enough it will only be the USB cable, if not your in for a controller as well

I have lost count how many USB cables I have replaced on the Metis
