    Ricoh 6503 white banding

Copier has 103K on ship in. All copy samples and testing looked great on initial inspection at our shop. Customer reported the problem 2 days after being used on site

Copies and prints have void horizontal banding (main scan direction) paper feed direction. There is a noticeable pattern about the size of the developer mag roller. The mag roller was swapped with another roller which did not noticeably change the problem. Banding is on the drum when a print is stopped there, which should limit it to drum, developer, and/or electrical. Have included an attached sky shot to show the lines.

Thinking possibly loss of developer bias but would also think that would leave developer on the copies which there is none.

    Any ideas appreciated

    Hi there!
Never saw this on a MARTINI, but often on ADONIS, RUSSIAN & STELLA: allways dirt on the drumshaft & drumearth-contacts ( drum & in the machine !).
After cleaning all parts banding was gone.
    Greetings...

Dev may be contaminated which has now left blockages in the doc blade

maybe worth a dev change and a thorougher cleaning of the doc blade

Which direction is it? Paper feed direction is sub scan direction. Scan direction is the direction SCANNED by the laser.

Contact on the machine side for DV bias was slightly bent out of position. Applying pressure to the front of the DV unit while running a copy would alter the pattern. "Tweeked" the contact back into shape and lines are gone. Would explain why it changed after moving the machine also.

Thanks for the ideas. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
