    RICOH MP 301SPF with SC 997 00

    Hi there!

we have a Ricoh MP 301SPF with the error code 997. Power off and on the machine doesn't solve the problem. The device has no function, no pc printing, scanning and copying possible.

Has anyone ever had the error? Thanks.

    Regards,
    Aktasson

997 is a controller error. You can try firmware or sometimes I have luck if I remove all extraneous accessories or options like the fax option then try to power on. If that fails then you're probably looking at a new controller.

I dont know about the MP301 but I have had memory Dimms causing sc997 on other Ricoh devices so maybe take off and power up, clean contacts of Dimm and reseat? Then as Qball says, it may need a controller

    1. if possible, firmware update with all fwu files
    2. adress book backup in sp, then initializing the address book in sp

This happened to me a lot of times. Removing the fax unit and the optional Java TM fixes the problems.
    PS, update the firmwares also

Very very strange, I shut the device down and unplug the power cable, network and fax cable. After that i have push the power button in order that the psu properly discharged from residual voltage.
I started the machine then with inserted sd card. There was no sc displayed so i could do the firmware update.
After restarting with network and fax cable, no error message came out. Testprints over pc and machine, testscans to folder work perfectly. I hope it stays that way :/
