How about firmware, have you tried updating them all (not just scanner) that should be the first thing to be done before replacing hardware.

Is the machine in a ventilated place and is the gap between wall and machine big enough?
    Is the fusing unit old?
    Hi
how do you mean that the fuser could affect the sc101?
I know it said time to change fuser but that was 60k before the PM so i just reset the counter
But i realy dont know how the fuser could be involved.
    Thanks
    Lars

I have read it somewhere on this forum that the F.U. could provoke such matters...
Is the mfp standing in a good ventilated place or not?
It could be that the fusing unit is heating up that much that the scanner is getting "overheated". Is the scanner cavity (very) warm just after this code pop's up?

I could buy that if it was only during copy but it happens when they scan to email , so fuser are on rest temp.
    Thanks Lars

    1. Check and clean the scanner mirror(s) and scanner lens.
    2. Check and clean the shading plate.
    3. Replace the exposure lamp.
    4. Replace the LED relay board.
    5. Replace the scanner mirror(s) or scanner lens.
If heat is not the issue (which was in my case) than the above guide will help you further on.
    Good luck!
