    MP C6501 SC408

    Hello everyone,

We have a few 6501's that continue to have SC408 errors and there is hardly any info on repairing this issue. What I have done with one of the copiers is swap the drums with a known good set, which held off the errors for a few days but came back. Any help would be great!

I am beyond happy that my company is starting to phase out these piles...

Where is the toner glass located? I don't recall seeing any glass on/near the ITB unit nor on a dev unit.

Open the front door, remove the toner supply unit and check the toner shield glass for dirt. Each PCDU has a separate shield glass. They should have a Mylar pull out tab accessible through a slot in the face plate directly above each drum.

Use a damp cloth, not alcohol it can affect the sensor.

Alcohol can damage plastic. If you affect the light transmission properties of the plastic covering the sensor eye you will change the sensor output. If you have something stuck on there that water and a cleaning cloth wont remove you should probably just replace the sensor.
